30 Days of Gratitude

Psalm 139:13-16, ‘Oh, yes, You shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank You, High God—You are breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, You watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day (MSG).’

Day 24 * Just Grateful: Warmly or deeply appreciative of kindnesses or benefits received; indebted and beholden

The thought sits with me a little while. Like I invited it in. I wrap my contemplations around it as if wrapping up a gift with paper and a bow. You knew me; like, You knew me, Lord. Before I took a breath. When I was a seedling, just a little sprinkling in Your hand; You knew me. I come from dust and a dream. You buried it, the dream, watered it, hovered over ‘me’, thought out best what You could intend for me, all the while knowing what I would intend for You. I wonder if You gaped at me ever. If You do now. I know far better to think that there is any way I have worn life that has surprised You, yet I still wonder…have You ever done a double-take, a like ‘Wow, I actually did put that past her, and yet. here we are.’ A ‘Just Wow’ moment. I know there are no surprises with You…but, I have wondered, was that before You met me? Yet, I read in Scripture that, before I had lived even one day, You were prepared. For me.
So…it causes me pause. What about all the other seedlings You dreamt about, the dust You caressed, the hope You buried and the lungs You breathed life in to; the hearts You made beat, and the love You grew. What about? God, o God, with every breath I take, I am grateful, You saw me all the way through Your story to the very end.

My heart overflows with praise to you, God, and for your promises, I will always trust you. So I’m thanking you with all my heart, with gratitude for all you’ve done. I will do everything I’ve promised you, Lord. Psalm 56:11-12 (TPT).’
