30 Days of Gratitude
Matthew 6:21, ‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (NIV).’
Day 9 * Just Grateful: Warmly or deeply appreciative of kindnesses or benefits received; indebted and beholden
Lord, I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. We spend time with who we love, right? We all have that special someone we can’t get enough of and we have in our lives other ‘someones’ who we miss dreadfully when we are apart from them. We notch out time in our schedules and we rearrange plans to fit in the special people in our lives. Even if we are unable to see ‘our people’, we make every provision to talk with them and relay our need for them in our lives. Who we spend time with tells others who are watching us who the important people are in our worlds.
So, when others are watching me, do they see You? And when You look back on my day, did You find Yourself in it? I can’t declare with my tongue that You are Everything to me if my heart is emptied of Your presence and my life is devoid of Your Word. As I formulated my plan for my day, did I fit You into it or it into You? Did I etch a blank with Your name on it? Did I import Your desires into my thoughts that I might find delight even in the stillness of Your presence? Did I drop everything and come running when You called? Today, was I performance-based or praise-based? And what treasures of my heart did my passions reveal?
O Lord, may the utterance of the gratitude packaged in my innermost being break through my walls and pour out in a ribbon of praise for You. ‘My heart overflows with praise to you, God, and for your promises, I will always trust you. So I’m thanking you with all my heart, with gratitude for all you’ve done. I will do everything I’ve promised you, Lord. Psalm 56:11-12 (TPT).’
