Putting a Pattern on Icing

The tines of a dinner fork can make waves in the icing. You can use the back of a soup spoon to make swirls or the tip of a thin, metal spatula to stipple the top and sides. You can also use a hairdryer lightly on the top to give the icing a smooth appearance.
