We don’t hear a lot about Jude. He is thought to be the half-brother of Jesus who was mentioned in Matthew 13 and possibly the traveling missionary Paul mentions in 1 Corinthians. We read this book and realize that Jude is speaking to Christians and warning them to stay true to their Christian walk. He is compelling them to remain steadfast in their faith and beware of false teachers. He reminds them of the words that Apostles and prophets spoke before him. He tells us how God delivered His people from Egypt, yet they chose to walk in unbelief and perished in the wilderness.
If we are steadfast in our faith, then we are able to stay away from the errors of disobedience. Meaning, if we walk in the manner that God has asked, then we will see His favor and not be caught up in the worldly lusts that draw us into the mire and muck. We must also be leery of those who speak elaborately in order to gain favor with men.
LadyBug, we are seeing more people who do not want to teach the truth for fear of offending someone. We see more people desire popularity over truth. As women of God, we must learn to discern the true teachers whose words line up with the Gospel of Christ. We cannot allow our homes to become places that harbor false teaching and disobedience. Homes are being saturated with evil and ungodly wisdom because our youth are being led to believe that they must have thousands of followers on social media before they are accepted. God is telling us, “Woman, be diligent to watch over your home and family.”
Let us keep watch for false teachers and those who babble for worldly attention.
