Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on your, live peaceably with all. Romans 12:17-18 (ESV)
We have all heard that two wrongs do not make a right. Most of the time this phrase comes into the conversation when someone has been hurt and wants to justify do the same thing to the other person. Our flesh wants to lash back when we are hurt and angry. God knows our flesh wants revenge, that’s why He is instructing us to not repay evil for evil. Of all men, Jesus knew exactly what it was like to be hurt for no reason. He could have called down an army to rectify the pain He experienced.
It is so easy to get caught up in the thoughts of revenge when we are angry and hurt, especially when we feel that it is justified to be mean to someone who caused us pain. As a woman of God, we have to keep ourselves from reacting with that type of behavior We should be seeking the honorable way to handle these situations so that we bring honor and glory to God. However, seeking to repay evil for evil is such a common reaction in today’s society. When we look at the result of this behavior, all we can see is destruction. We should be seeking ways to find peace rather than be okay living in this chaos of cruel behavior.
LadyBug as a woman of God look to Him for the answers of justice. Keep evil from entering your home because your flesh is angry and hurt. Rather, look for the way of peace and love. Let your thoughts be those that bring honor and glory to God even when you are feeling hurt and angry.
Let us make way for good and not evil as we seek to be a woman after God’s heart. Let our actions reflect the love that He has for us even when our enemies abound on each side of us. Let the peace beyond our understanding be the peace that we share with those around us during these challenging times.
Much love,
