Virtual Women’s Bible Study – Week 3

Keynote speaker Pastor Casey Kim dives into the deep love of God and what is the true meaning of “grace”. He explains that if we have even an ounce of good that we did to receive “grace”, then that’s not grace, but instead, it’s works. He further explores Romans 3 to evaluate why God gave us the law. According to Romans 3, God gave us the law so that “every mouth may be stopped”, so that we can know that we are sinners who are incapable of keeping the law before God and that we have nothing to boast about–in other words, for our mouth to “be stopped”. Only when we realize how truly hopeless we are can God become our only hope. Just as how only the sick have need of a doctor, only the hopeless have need of Jesus to become their hope, and only then can we experience the true meaning of “grace”. Pastor Casey Kim is currently the senior pastor of the Good News San Jose Church. He is originally from South Korea and ministered there for five years. Then, he became a missionary in China, where he ministered for another four years. As many know, Christianity is prohibited in China, so he was caught preaching and got banned from China. Then, he moved to Hong Kong, where he ministered for one and a half years. After that, he came to the United States, and has been ministering there for two years. He resides with his wife and three loving daughters in the San Francisco Bay Area.
