Leading Lady Monday: Pastor Donna Jones, Abundant Life Fellowship-Tahlequah

This month, Christian Women Living Magazine is showcasing a wonderful church located in the city of Tahlequah, OK. Abundant Life Fellowship-Tahlequah is home to this week’s leading lady, Pastor Donna Jones. She is a lady who has a heart for those in need. We are excited to share the ministries of Abundant Life Fellowship-Tahlequah through the Virtual Church Sundays segment at Christian Women Living Magazine. Meet Pastor Donna Jones of Abundant Life Fellowship-Tahlequah.

Cyndi Kay Green: Please give us a brief introduction including your spouse and an introduction to the church.
Pastor Donna Jones: Jay and I are both from central and western Oklahoma and came separately to Tahlequah in the 70’s. We met I Tahlequah while he was teaching in a Bible school in the church he was pastoring in the early 80’s. We have been married for 36 years and have pastored or served together in church for 34 of those years. We are both graduates of Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow. We have 4 grown children and 9 grandchildren.

We started Abundant Life in 2005 in a store front and moved to our current location at 1330 N. Cedar Avenue in Tahlequah a few years later. Jay is a passionate teacher of the Word and our mission and desire is “to equip people to live the abundant life God desires for them to have,” as Jesus stated in John 10:10, a rich and satisfying life (The New Living Translation.)

Our ministry at Abundant Life is centered on Engaging with people so that they Connect with God and His Church, Equipping people to grow in Christ, and then incorporate His teachings into their lives, Empowering people to discover their giftings and serve within the Church and the community, so that they are Employed to Go into the world and personally disciples others.

We believe that when the Church – Engages, Equips, Empowers and Employs – believers will Connect, Grow, Serve and Go. We love to see people come to a saving knowledge of Christ and then grow into their ministry beyond the walls of the Church.

CKG: What are the other ministries you lead within the church?
DJ: I have served as the Children’s Pastor since the beginning and now I am working more behind the scenes to equip our teachers and leaders in all areas of our children’s ministry. I also assist in leading Women’s ministry and work to train leaders in our Serve Teams. I am also a prison chaplain at the Cherokee County Detention Center, along with several other women, but because of Covid we have not been able to minister inside the prison walls since March of this year.

CKG: Do you participate in community programs?
DJ: I am the Volunteer Coordinator for the Hands of Grace Benevolence Center under the direction of Zoe Institute. In that capacity, I co-ordinate teams from several area churches that work as volunteers ministering to the needs of our community by distributing groceries, clothing and household and personal items. There are currently 9 local churches who work alongside us in this ministry.

CKG: How can our readers contact the church?
DJ: Abundant Life is located at 1330 N. Cedar Avenue in Tahlequah OK and anyone can call the church at 918-458-0040 or email us at staff@alft.org. We look forward to worshipping together on Sundays at 9:30 or 11:15. Our church Bible studies on Wednesday nights at 6:30 and several Life Groups that meet throughout the community in member’s homes and local businesses. A listing of our Life Groups can be found on our website at www.alft.org, where videos of our services can also be viewed.

Thank you Donna and Abundant Life Fellowship for your ministries that reach those who are in need.
