But he gave no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.
Matthew 27:14 (ESV)

As he stood there, Jesus listened to the lies that were told against him. Knowing that he could change things at any given moment, He stood still and silent. He chose not to rebuke them or their lies. What determination and trust He had. He trusted that His Father would not allow it all to be in vain. He trusted that when it was said and done, there would be no more tears or death. What a Savior.

Oh how often do we have the chance to remain silent, but instead we speak words that harm ourselves our others. We tend to let our tongue get in the way of what God is trying to do. Thinking we are justified to rebuke because we know the word, we sometimes turn others from the truth. We need to know when and what to say so that others will know the grace and love of God. Sometimes the silence will say it better than words.

LadyBug it’s okay to have those moments of not saying anything. Sometimes holding our words will make a bigger difference in the lives of those who are seeking to know His love.

Let us know that we don’t always have to rebuke those things that others say. God will use the silence to do what needs to be done.
