Brittany’s Book Nook — Book Review: The Story of Moses, A Pop Up Book by Landoll’s

A Note for Parents:
It is often said that reading and writing go hand in hand. As a children’s author, I realize both skills are important for youngsters to learn. However, the most amazing thought came to me. Why not bring glory to God by reviewing faith based books for children? This will encourage children to read. Therefore……. I am introducing……..Brittany’s Book Nook!

Once a month, I will be writing a review of a faith-based book for children, ages one to twelve. I am a Jesus Loving daycare volunteer for ages 2-5 by day. At night I love to paint chalk pictures, read……and of course, write! So, without further ado, the first book I am going to review is, The Story of Moses, a Bible Popup. This colorful picture book is published by Landoll’s.

Hello Boys and Girls! Do you ever wonder what happens if you become jealous? This is a hard emotion to control sometimes because it involves wanting something that someone else has. A young girl named Miriam couldn’t help but become jealous of her younger brother Moses. Grown Ups says he was a strong boy who was going to become a great leader one day. All of this fuss over Moses led Miriam to wonder why she wasn’t as special as Moses was.

After discovering that Pharoah, the Egyptian king, said that all Hebrew babies must die, Miriam came up with an idea. She made a basket to place her baby brother in, and sent him floating down the Nile River in hopes that he would be safe from Pharoah’s fate.

Friends…. Miriam didn’t have to worry about baby Moses because the Pharaoh’s daughter found the baby, brought Moses to her mother, and raised him. That same baby, now a man, led the people out of Egypt.

This picture book will delight beginning readers because it explains how jealousy can control a child’s thoughts in the beginning. Yet, by using creative thinking, jealousy can turn into pride for a sibling’s accomplishments in the end. And, that my friends is what Jesus would do. See you next time!
