CWL’s Kids Faith Clubhouse — Mother’s Day Devotion
A Mother’s Love
By: Brittany Crawford
My Great-Grandma once had a sign in her house saying, “God can’t always be everywhere, so He invented mothers? Boys and girls………Why do you think God created mothers? While it’s true that we may not be able to see God, we can feel His presence everyday. I think God created mothers so that someone could help show us God’s love.
How many of you have said to your Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, or sister, “I love you THIS big with your arms spread open wide? The female figure in your life most likely had answered “Well, I love you THIS big!” However, her arms were open just a bit wider than yours. Why is this? A grown-up’s arms are longer, right?
Even though a female figure shows us how great we can love, they are not perfect by any means. However, it is often said no one can love as much as a mother can. Can you think of some ways a mother or other female figure loves us?
Here are a few ideas.
- Stay up all night to sew a Halloween costume for the school carnival the next day.
- Fix your favorite dinner when you have had a bad day at school or had a disagreement with a friend.
- Buying you an expensive pair of shoes even though it may mean going without something she wants or needs.
These are only three ways female figures show they love us, but many more do exist. There is one person who loves us more than Mom does. Who is that, you may ask? Jesus! One was that Jesus loves us when your Mom does something kind for you. God is especially glad to have made moms because it has given Him a way to show His love for you.
John 8:12 says, “I am the light of the world.” Mom’s often shed their “light” on subjects by giving wisdom and advice. A mom’s face “lights up” when she sees her children accept Jesus as our savior. Mom’s “light the way” when guiding us through a scary situation. Someday, we will get to experience God’s love for us face-to-face, but this Mother’s Day, please thank your mother for doing one of the most important jobs here on earth. Thank her for bringing you to Church, so you can learn about God’s love.
