Red Letters The Disciple’s Prayer April 15

‘The Disciples Prayer’

Matthew 6:8b-13 (NKJV), ‘”For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed by Your name.
Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
On earth as it is heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the
Power and the glory forever.
Amen.”’

How amazing that through Jesus we are given the gift of talking with the God of the universe! That’s what He did for us; gave us the opportunity to lay our requests, our thoughts, our hearts, on the altar of the Lord Almighty and at the foot of the cross, for His consideration and His response. Like a parent to his children we find a Father who’s pulse beats for His child, ready to act on behalf of and protection for the son or daughter He birthed. Prior to Jesus, the blood of animals made atonement which stood in the gap between a holy God and a broken race. The language was foreign on the lips of humanity as we tried to call out to a God Who was massively for His people but mankind ignorantly assumed the barrier of sin and shame formed a chasm too deep to be crossed. Jesus bridged that gap, and then taught us how to pray a Disciples Prayer to a Holy God so that His work could be perfected through us here on earth.
“Prayer is a mighty instrument, not for getting man’s will done in heaven, but for getting God’s will done on earth.” (Robert Law)

I’ve been reading RED LETTERS all my life, but never with my heart.
During the month of April, let’s JOURNEY where JESUS journeyed,
and listen with our hearts to all He came to proclaim.
