A Fool’s Folly
Proverbs 27:3, ‘It’s easier to carry a heavy boulder and a ton of sand than to be provoked by a fool and have to carry that burden!’ (TPT)
Have you ever been rankled by a super obnoxious, annoying individual? Someone offensive and loathsome, a real pain in the neck? Isn’t that frustrating?! It’s not only frustrating but we are told it also is nocuous and arduous. In fact, did you know it is easier to carry a ton of sand than to be burdened with whiplash from the provocation by a fool. Can you imagine carrying a great load of sand? Impossible, huh? Like an hourglass, sand falls through our fingers steadily until it is gone. You’ll never be able to carry it; however, it would be easier to do so than the burden of what a fool can cause us to carry by muddying our emotions and stirring up sensitive subjects.
Fools are meddlesome; they needle us and get in to our most private and sequestered layers. It’s not that a fool is brilliant; quite the opposite, really, but they have a knack for exposing areas in all of us to cause us to question and berate ourselves. It is my opinion that they do so because of their own insecurities which this individual refuses to face and overcome. A fool makes a sport out of generating self-doubt in others. Misery loves company, right?!
So it is foolish, or nonsensical, preposterous and irrational, to allow ourselves to be stimulated by the jesting of an individual who’s sole intention is to jar us, to aggravate and exasperate us. I am a prime target! I think I have a sign on my forehead that says Bullseye! I allow myself to get poked at, made fun of, stepped on, humiliated even, and typically, it’s by a foolish person that just played target practice with my own uncertainties.
The Bible has a vast wealth of encouragement for the millionaire holdings of a wise person. It also speaks very directly and adversely to the folly of fools and their ways. We should be challenged to choose wisdom over nonsense and make shrewd and careful decisions instead of practicing absurdity with fellow idiots. ‘When wisdom speaks, understanding becomes attractive. But the words of the fool make their ignorance look laughable.’ (Proverbs 15:2, TPT)
I want to know the Father’s opinion about everything!
Won’t you JOURNEY with me this month as we ask our Father, ‘MAY I?’’
