SEX, JESUS, AND THE CONVERSATIONS THE CHURCH FORGOT by Mo Isom

SEX, JESUS, AND THE CONVERSATIONS THE CHURCH FORGOT grabbed my attention. I knew nothing about Mo Isom. After reading her book, I’ll never forget her. God always puts books in my path that will benefit me. And I thank Him for leading me to this one. What was written about sex, Jesus, and the church enabled me to see God’s gift of sex as powerful, purposeful, and pure in its design. I’m a mature Christian woman, and my spiritual eyes have been opened to see how vast and great God loves and values His creation.

Yes; sex is a hot topic, and the world is obsessed with it. Sadly that version depicts a twisted, perverted, and cheated version of what God’s intended. Yet the church is relatively silent about it. Churches are filled with young people, singles, and married couples who are ignorant regarding biblical truths regarding sex. Perhaps this book will pave the way for church leaders to embrace this topic in a fresh new way instead of simply ignoring it.

Mo Islom chose to use her voice to speak up. For her, it was past time for some raw and candid conversations about virginity, promiscuity and everything in between. She’s speaking up for the teen tangled in the bondage of pornography; the girlfriend feeling pressured by her boyfriend to “give in” to prove her love; the college co-ed struggling to escape the temptation that comes in every direction; the woman who saved herself for marriage yet felt shame on her wedding night; the married couple who, at times, feel like disconnected strangers between their own sheets. Do you recognize yourself or someone who know among the scenarios? God will do what He can to get our attention, and He got mine within the pages of this book. This book helped set me free, it will do the same for others.

Mo Isom holds nothing back as she shares her own sexual testimony. She puts no blame on others, and freely admits she was the conductor of her decades-long sexual train wreck.

I applaud this author for sharing her amazing testimony. Romans 8:28 came to mind while writing this review: “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” I agree with Mo Isom, God has unbelievable plans for this book.

Her transparency and truth about her own sexual sins puts her in a position to relate to what others have or are going through. She writes with honest and compassion. Those who read her words will never feel condemned in any way. She shares with her readers the love of Jesus. How He opened her eyes to see what she truly needed. Her life changed when she fully accepted His love, grace, and mercy. She says it best, “But I my friend, have been redeemed.”

Sex was God’s idea. What a blessing to appreciate and understand why He created it.
