Baked Glazed Ham
Baked Ham is a beautiful thing! There is an air of festivity when you pull a ham out of the oven and place in on a board for presenting and slicing. Even though it isn’t hard to do there are some ways to ensure perfection.
- Always purchase high quality ham that is either on the bone or trimmed off the bone. The one pictured is trimmed off the bone.
- Keep the oven low, like at 325⁰ F or lower and be sure not to over bake it.
- Most hams can be baked for 15 minutes per pound.
- Cover the ham and add a little water to the pan so the ham does not dry out.
- Use a simple gaze of apricot jam, stirred up a little, to brush on the ham in the last 20 minutes of the baking time. Uncover the ham for those 20 minutes to get a nice shiny glaze.
- Let the ham rest for a few minutes before slicing it thin and serving it.
Any leftover ham may be chilled, sliced and served cold for awesome sandwich
