Confidence from the Inside-Out
When I was growing up I did not care much about name brand clothing. It was not that my parents couldn’t afford the name brand items. I just did not care about the name brands. I got teased a lot for not wearing the name brand clothing and when I did begin to wear it I was still getting teased. One day I said to myself I get teased both ways so why not just rock my own style whenever I want to wear it. In my transition to high school The Lord shifted my mindset and my confidence went to another level. I had never felt so good about myself. I wore what I wanted to wear when I wanted to wear it and didn’t care anything about what anybody said. As women we sometimes live by the standards of the world and that’s not how God views us at all.
I have full confidence in the Lord! We say, “I trust in the Lord with all my heart. We say, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made!
We say it, but in actuality we really don’t feel that way deep down inside. When you look in the mirror each morning what do you really think about yourself? In Genesis 1:27 it says “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them.” We are not called to be the same or even look the same. When you wake up and you get dressed, don’t you dare question your beauty or what you are wearing. You own your outfit and rock it with all the confidence God had given you. I know it’s not the easiest thing to do, I understand.
Fashion and clothes, yes are a plus. The Proverbs 31 woman wore fine linen and purple gowns. Purple represents royalty. I truly believe it wasn’t her clothes that made her, it was her inner confidence in God. She knew who was in Christ Jesus. Sis, that’s you too! You rock that outfit and you say I am fearfully and wonderfully made! I belong to royalty! My confidence is not rooted in what I wear but it is rooted in my God alone. A practical step you can do is to get some notecards, sticky notes or even write on your mirror in the bathroom what God said about you and who He has called you to be. When you wake-up every day, speak those things over yourself. God loves and cherishes you so much that he would send His son to die for you!
