CWL’s Kids Faith Clubhouse — Book Review: Snuggle Time Prayers
Title: Snuggle Time Prayers
Author: Glenys Nelist
Illustrator: Cee Biscoe
Close your eyes for a moment. Think back to when you were a child. Do you remember anyone reading a book to you over and over again while snuggling under the covers. While it has been a few years since I was a preschooler, I can imagine toddlers and preschoolers alike loving the book I am about to review for you today. This book is entitled, Snuggle Time Prayers by author Glenys Nelist and illustrated by Cee Biscoe.
This adorable 30 page book features adorable drawings of different colored bears. These pictures make the simple, yet, meaningful prayers come to life. Each prayer uses rhyme on the second and fourth lines in order for small children to remember the prayers better. However, the attention-grabber for me was the fact that under each title of a prayer, there is a bible verse telling children what to do. For example, the first poem is titled Snuggle Time. The Bible verse accompanying this poem is found in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything.” Simple for children to understand, yet, the verse gives parents a reference point to talk with their children about what God wants them to do.
Snuggle Time Prayers is a board book, simple to hold in young hands without children ripping the pages. These prayers will help children understand gratitude and thankfulness. Snuggle Time Prayers is only one book in a series of four. This series includes Bible Stories, Christmas Blessings, Fall Blessings, and Psalms. The entire collection will make a great gift for any child. I give this book the Brittany Seal of Approval.
