CWL’s Kids Faith Clubhouse — Easter Devotion

The Miracle

What has children so hyped up about Easter? Is it the chocolate? Brightly colored egg hunts are fun too! However, most children delight in that twelve foot Easter Bunny who comes hopping down the trail in search of their house. Many parents have used good ole E.B. to make their children be good in order to receive toys and other treats.

Let’s stop and think for a minute. Chocolate and toys are nice. However, some celebrate Easter for a different reason. Easter is when Jesus rose from his grave. The holiday represents new life as well as new beginnings. Easter falls during spring time. The last of the snow has melted away, and in its place flowers are planted, and grass turns green when it rains. The birds sing sweetly in the trees, and the sun shines, giving warmth to all the land.

Have you ever wondered what it means to become a Christian? Since we are talking about new beginnings, Easter may be a good time to explore this idea. Who is God? How does He love us? Maybe we all try our best to be perfect, but, there is only one perfect person in this world, and His name is God. We need to remember God loves us, no matter what, even when it is difficult to love someone else.

What is a sin? A sin is doing something wrong. Cheating, lying, and stealing are big sins. However, God is patient with us, but he also does not say sin is okay. God sent his son Jesus to die for our sins It is okay to mess up; we are not perfect. However, children as well as adults must pay for their sins. Maybe adults have their electricity turned off as a result of non-payment. Children can get grounded if they have bad grades. We all need to learn consequences have actions.
Finally, Faith is how adults and children can receive God’s forgiveness. Each person has the chance to repent, or ask forgiveness for their sins. It’s like saying, “”God, I know I didn’t study for the spelling test, and I’m sorry. I will try harder next time for a better grade.” It is easy to ask God’s forgiveness through prayer. Faith is something small that we cannot see, but it is believed in God loves all His children, and He is not shy about it. God is a daily encouragement. In Mark, 10 13-14 , God says, “Permit the children to come to me; do not hinder them.” After all, if we can’t turn to God, who can we turn to?
