Day 24 – Fit For Life Challenge

Hey hey!😀 It’s Day 24! Hope you’re off to a great start today! Today I’m posting something a little different..I have a list of tips for healthy eating that I put together! Hope this will be of help to someone!

  • Reduce processed foods and stick to foods that are as close to its natural state as possible.
  • Decrease or omit added sugar.
  • Reduce unnecessary additives.
  • Get lots of lean protein.
  • Go heavy on the veggies; raw,steamed, sautéed, grilled, or roasted
  • Cut way back on carbs found in enriched breads, white rice, pastries, etc.
  • *Eat 100% whole grains
  • Practice mindful portion control.. know the difference between feeling satisfied and feeling full
  • Try not to eat two hours before bed
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Substitute zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash for pasta
  • Keep healthy snacks available
  • PLAN for healthy meals and have the ingredients at home ready to use!
  • Pack your lunch for work.. use leftovers from your healthy dinner!
  • When eating at a restaurant, go for dishes that are grilled, broiled,roasted, or pan seared. Avoid breads and sweets. Ask to substitute extra veggies or a side salad for starchy sides. Get a To Go box with your meal if it is a big portion and go ahead and box up half for lunch tomorrow.
  • Drink water like it’s your job
  • Cook with healthy fats ( like olive oil, avocado oil)
  • Include healthy fats in your diet because they keep you satisfied and are so good for you! (Like salmon, nuts)
  • Keep a healthy snack with you
  • Shop around the perimeter of the grocery store (Fresh produce, meats, dairy, frozen) Avoid middle aisles when possible where the chips and Twinkies live!
  • Weigh yourself on a regular basis but don’t get hung up on the numbers
  • Remember abs are made in the kitchen! You can’t out-exercise a poor diet!
  • Have a friend who is your accountability person
  • Be positive and picture yourself feeling lighter, healthier and more energetic!
  • Pray!! Include God in this process!
  • Remember you are loved, valued, and you are worth it!!!
