Freedom

Being a Christian is all about freedom. Jesus came to set you free from the kingdom of darkness and translate you into His kingdom of light. You are free to make the right choice or the wrong one. How closely you walk with Jesus is up to you. You choose how committed you want to be and how much of the will of God you will do.

Sometimes I wonder if that’s a good thing or not. Our flesh has a mind of its own and if we aren’t disciplined, we can find ourselves in trouble. There are always consequences. Every choice has a result-good or bad. Even not making a choice has an effect, because they will make it for you.

You can decide you don’t like to forgive everyone and hold on to that grudge or offence. Yes, you are free to do whatever you want, but it will cost you. There is a price that will be paid for not obeying God’s commandments. No, it’s not God punishing you. It’s the law that He has put in place. That’s why He tells you what you should do because He knows if you don’t, things will not go well with you.

When you are angry and bitter, you start to be mean and unkind to people, hurting them. Soon, they will fight back and then problems will arise that could have been avoided if you just listened to God, walked in love, letting Him take care of the issues.

The more committed you are to the Word of God, the better decisions you will make. The more God’s Word is your moral compass, the wiser you will be. Our heavenly Father will lead and guide you to the answers you need, but it’s your freedom of choice to do what He says or not.

Free will is a powerful thing, and therefore you have to decide who is in charge of your life- you or God. You cannot have it both ways. You can only have one master. I know this is a sobering thought, but never the less it’s one we all have to face and make. Hopefully sooner than later.

The choice is yours. No one is forcing you to be a strong Christian. But if you want the results that God promises you will have to be. Casual inquires and sitting on the fence Christians do not get the same results as a mature Christian that follows God daily.

The difference is freedom of choice.

How about you? What are you using your freedom of choice for? Are you giving into your flesh and doing whatever you think is fine in the moment? Or are you dedicating your body, mind, and spirit to being led by God?

Look at your life and the answer will be clear.
