FREEDOM GOALS – Overcome Playing Small
What would you do if the answer was YES?!
And what goals would you set for yourself if that were true?
Here’s the secret to that question…
The answer is ALWAYS yes!
• YES you can!
• YES you are worthy!
• YES you are enough!
• YES you have what it takes!
• YES you’re not too old/young!
When you’re setting goals for yourself you should always approach it with the mindset that the answer is YES.
The answer is yes you can be anything you choose to be. It’s not about focusing on what you want, but on being the person that can achieve your biggest audacious goals. It’s about “being” your best version of you. That best you is not perfect, but she is able. This means you can go into the world and do anything you decide is worthy of God’s praise. Your goals have no limits when you’re being the person God has already called you to be.
Freedom is found in your yes because of who Jesus is, and who you are in Him.
It’s a win, win!
Unfortunately, too many people forget this truth, and live a life of unused potential, setting goals (if any at all) that are less than inspiring, and wondering why they don’t succeed.
So, if the answer is always YES, what does that mean for you?
It means you were created in God’s image, fully equipped to succeed with the light of the Holy Spirit as your guide. That light is within you to access at any time. You have the Power of God coursing through your veins, yet so often we forget.
Studies show that 92% of people DO NOT accomplish their goals.
Why?…because we forget who we are.
Big juicy freedom goals are possible when you remember who’s you are. Your identity is in Him, the creator of the heavens and earth. We are instructed to not be of this world, but to renew our minds in God. When we do this, we can accomplish anything.
10 Bible Verses to contemplate when setting goals:
- ROMANS 12:2 – “Do not be conformed of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing (practice) you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
- 2 CHRONICLES 15:7 – “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
- HABAKKUK 2:2-3 – “Write down the revelation (idea/dream/vision) and make it plain on tablets so whoever reads it may run with it.”
- MATTHEW 17:20 – “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain (challenge/obstacle/difficulty), ‘move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
- HEBREWS 10:35-36 – “So do not throw away your confidence, it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”
- PSALM 20:4 – “May he give you the desire of your heart and make your plans succeed.”
- PSALM 127:1 – “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vein.”
- PROVERBS 16:9 – “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
- PROVERBS 3:6 – “Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (what you think is possible); in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
- HEBREWS 12:1-2a – “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
What would it change in your life if you lived in the truth of God’s word about you and him?
My guess is you would see yourself living a drastically different life.
Here’s the GREAT fact…
YOU. CAN. START. NOW! 😊
Here are 8 prompts to help you tap into that truth to help you set freedom goals to thrive:
1. DREAM BIG: Take the limits off what you think is possible and set goals you need God to help you with.
2. BE FLEXIBLE: Put the goal in pen and the pathway to get there in pencil.
3. ASK FOR GUIDANCE: Be sure your goals align with God’s will (not outside the word of God).
4. TRUST GOD: Lean on His Power to equip you to do with Him what you can’t do alone.
5. GLORIFY GOD: Make your goals about His love and grace in your life.
6. BE PURPOSE DRIVEN: Set goals that benefit others.
7. CHECK YOUR MOTIVES: Examine the “why” of each goal and it’s purpose.
8. PARTNER WITH GOD: Pray your way through, before, during, and after.
God created you on purpose with a purpose. That purpose is to showcase through you to the world what only God can do.
Make it a daily habit to look more at the benefits of the goal accomplished rather than the goal itself. Celebrate every little accomplishment as you go (no matter how small). This will help motivate you and build confidence to gain momentum.
Let today be the day of FREEDOM in your life, that you no longer stay small in the bondage of limiting beliefs. Freedom is found in Jesus Christ.
His plans for you are miraculous!
