Do you know why Bible study is so important LadyBug? We don’t study to gain blessings or favor. We study in order to know Jesus and the commandments of God. We study so we can be made righteous and share God’s Word. We study to increase our faith and so that we may know what it is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. We study because we adore God and we want to know who He is in our lives.
Bible study is designed to increase our knowledge and wisdom of God’s Word. However, it is not designed to make us feel as though we have it all together and that we have all the answers. There is no way any of us could ever know everything there is to know about God and His Word. But when we read and focus on the Word, we begin to develop a relationship with Jesus and the Father. We grow from being a child to knowing the truth. Then, through this relationship, we become so much more than we could ever imagine. We become one with Jesus and we know His voice. In order to love something in our hearts, we must know it in our mind and soul. The more we read, the more God will reveal to us. In these revelations, we are taken from glory to glory.
So many times, God has revealed himself and found myself in a place of awestruck wonder. There were times that He revealed how deep His love is for me and how much He values everything about me. It was those moments that I was so thankful that because of studying His word, I knew His voice.
Study to know Him, not to show Him.
