Words. They are so powerful. Words can affect how we perceive ourselves. They can be positive and life-giving or negative and destructive, either way, words affect people. We have always been told that the tongue is very influential. This is because the tongue helps form the words that we speak. Do we speak life or death? Do we speak love or hate? Do we speak faith or defeat? It may seem like a small thing, but what we say will affect us and others.
By the same standard, what we choose to listen to will bring life or death. We can either let what we hear become stuck in our spirit or we can dismiss it. That is why we must always speak the life-giving positive words that others need to hear. Even when we have to speak correction to others, we need to speak them in a positive and edifying way. Jesus instructed us to speak love, truth, and wisdom. This is how we instruct our children and share the Gospel of Christ with others.
What we speak can also affect the way people perceive us and our testimony. We do not want to speak things that go against who we say we are in Christ.
LadyBug let us always be quick to speak the words that will uplift and bring joy to others so that they may know the love of God. What comes out of the mouth is just as important as what goes in.
