How many of you were in sports as you went through junior high and high school? I participated in just about everything except boxing, swimming, and football. I was all about sports and I strived to be the best. I wanted to win all the trophy’s and ribbons that I could. That wasn’t the only reason I was active in sports. I thoroughly enjoyed participating. I enjoyed the adrenaline of playing on a team and doing our best to win the game.
LadyBug, how often do we go through life the same way? Striving to be the best. Working 15-hour days so we can take home the “employee of the month” plaque. It is in our nature to want to be the best at everything we do. Some stay focused on just being the best they can be, while others want to be better than everyone else. This is not the race that God wants for us. He wants us to press forward for the prize and set our sights upon the goal. But the goal is not the title or the trophy. Winning this race doesn’t get our names in the newspaper nor do we go in the book of world records.
Oh, but do not be dismayed. The crown we will receive at the end of this race is more valuable that gold. The book that we get our names written in is so much more than any world record book on earth. It is the Book of Life. The crown is filled with jewels like we have never seen.
Let us keep our eyes on the true goal and the most valuable crown.
