Hello Boys and Girls! This month I am bringing you another exciting book. It is especially for ages 4-7. However, anyone can learn from it.
Have you or your grown-ups ever heard of Max Lucado? He is a well known Christian author who has written books for adults, but he has also written several books for kids like you. The one I am going to tell you about today is called You are Mine. The main character, Punchinello is an adorable little wooden figurine who learns a big lesson. Bigger is not always better.
Punchinello’s friends all had boxes……some of them had balls. Punchinello wanted boxes and balls like his friends had. He didn’t want to look like a poor Wemmick. So, Punchinello began to see his possessions, including his bed and his house. He worked to buy more boxes and balls. He began to climb a huge hill, but spilled all his boxes and balls.
Punchinello was a very sad Wemmick. However, with the help of his maker, Punchinello soon discovered he wasn’t happy just because he had all of these toys. “It’s not what you have…..But Who you are” The Maker tells Punchinello. “And you are mine.” This is a sweet story who can help children grasp the concept of jealousy, and more importantly, what to do about it.
