Love Your Neighbor Challenge — Day 24
Love Believes: Part 1
We tell ourselves stories about people and though this can make it seem dramatic, it can be detrimental to cast people into victim, villain, and hero roles.
When we characterize someone as a victim, it’s often because of something awful they endured. My childhood best friend was the victim of an abusive mother. But when we say that she’s a victim, we stop time in that one place in her life and hold her there.
What had happened to her had ended. And while that certainly did impact her life, I always considered that she was more a contender or victor because despite that treatment, she grew into one of the kindest people I knew.
Love believes that someone who has been the “victim” of a situation can be victorious through Jesus Christ. So, let’s not define ourselves or our friends as victims. Through Christ we are more than conquerors.
There’s just a week left to join our month-long Love Your Neighbor Challenge! This has the power to change your world.
