Love Your Neighbor Challenge — Day 8
Love is harder than most people think.
So many people mistake love for tolerating bad behavior, but that’s not what love does. Love accepts people despite their behavior and encourages them to do better. Love sets high standards and believes in the best that other people can offer.
Love isn’t soft–it’s resilient. It’s tough. It withstands when other responses fail. In this life, likely in this day, you’ll likely run across someone whose behavior you’ll disapprove of. In that moment you’ll have a choice to condemn the person or be curious. Why did that person behave in that way? How can we demonstrate God’s forgiveness and love while still believing that the next time that person can do better?
