Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. Matthew 6:22-23 (NLT)
The eyes are such an important part of the body. They allow us to see where we are and what we are doing. They sparkle when we are filled with joy and they leak tears when they are sad. Some have called them the window to our soul.
Our spiritual eye is much the same as our physical eye. We see the places that God is calling us, and we see what we should be doing. One thing that is a bit different is the fact that our spiritual eye illuminates to our spirit. It is what brings light to the deepest part of our soul so that we know what the Word is showing us as we read. When our eye is focused on the good and pure things of God it is healthy. When it is healthy, it is bringing the pure and holy into our body. How beautiful!
I believe that Matthew is also talking about another type of eye. The Pastors of our churches!! These men of God are the eye of the church. They see where God is leading the church. They are the “eyes” that provide a light unto the Word of God so that our pathway is illuminated. When we have a healthy eye reading and seeing for us as a spiritual leader, then we as the body are healthy and whole on a spiritual level. That is why we must always pray for our Pastors to hear and see the truth that God is bringing to their attention.
LadyBug be aware not only of the health of your spiritual eye, but also the “eye” of the church. Look for the light that will illuminate the truth of the Gospel.
Let us keep our eyes healthy and focused on the goodness of God so that our light shines into the depths of our spirit for others to see the grace of God.
Much Love,
