Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV)

As Christians we have more people watching us than Hollywood does on red carpet night! They are watching and waiting to see if we will be the “Christians” they think we need to be. Unbelievers are judging us intently just to see if they can call us out on our talk versus our walk. It is because of this that we are asked to lay down the weight of those things that cause us to struggle. Besetting sins are not new to Christians nor or they new to God. These are those things that we just can seem to move out of our life. They are wants or emotions of the flesh, therefore, we all have besetting sins. Things such as selfishness, pride, guilt, greed and many more that we don’t see so much as a sin, but rather as an attitude. When we find ourselves facing these besetting sins, the best reaction is to take them straight to Jesus.

The key to laying them down is to acknowledge them. As we acknowledge them we are able to move forward without having to fight the weight of condemnation as we run this race with perseverance and purpose. Jesus brought faith to earth so that we may know what it looks like. Looking to Him as an example, we can walk the talk that many are judging. When we do this, they will no longer judge out of anger, but rather out of a desire to want the joy that we have.

LadyBug don’t feel shame over a besetting sin! Acknowledge it and take it to the feet of Jesus. Let Him help you let it go.

Let us be mindful of those who are watching and waiting to judge. Let us not fall into the besetting sin of judging them for their unbelief.

Much Love,
