POWERFUL UNFAILING LOVE

For his unfailing love for us is powerful, and the LORD’s faithfulness endures forever. Psalm 117:2 NLT

The LORD’s love is described as unfailing and powerful. What gets me is His love. Our God loves. He lavishes His love on us, repeatedly. In fact, He washes us in His love so we can be made clean by the blood of the Lamb of God – His Son Jesus.

The depth of His love is unequal. Whereas my love has limits, His is limitless.

Not that I want limits on my love – but I catch myself putting limits on it. Protection, I guess. I’ve been hurt too many times to count, so why not build a moat around my heart? Or, if I hold out, then only so many can penetrate the fortress of my heart.

My other tactic is to only allow certain people access to the inner workings of my heart and love. Easier that way. But if indeed, I have the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5), then my love would err on the side of unfailing, not on my comfortable side with barriers.

God’s love is faithful. It never ends. God is love (I John 4:8), so there for He never ends. Never. Ever. He was before time and stepped into time at creation. He became flesh in Jesus and moved into the neighborhood (John 1:14). I love the imagery in this translation of this verse – New Living Translation. It makes Jesus so relatable. Knowing that Jesus is in my neighborhood has Him right next door as my neighbor. Pretty cool.
The promises in Scripture are dear and none are more dear than knowing God is unfailing, near, faithful, love.

In this topsy-turvy thing called life, it is easy to feel tossed aside, lost, unheard and scrambling. It is all too easy to forget our compass and anchor and get blown around by the raging storm. But when we pause and ponder our God, we have a calm assurance wash over us crying, “I am here. I am with you. I am for you. I AM.”

God’s love is also powerful. Feeling defeated seems to be a daily occurrence for many. Imposter is blasted at us from all sides.

Loser.

How can we forget that we are on the winning team? With God on our side, we win. Every. Single. Time.

There may be delays – have you ever noticed that? Or am I the only one who experiences setbacks, delays, bummers, miscommunications? Some days…well… they stink at times. I can rest assured knowing God is sovereign and everything filters through His hand.

Everything filters through the hand of God. The same hand that holds ours. The same hand stretched out on the Cross. The same hand that raised Jairus’s daughter from the dead.

It may seem that we are defeated. But God never is. His will prevails. It is darkest in the middle of the storm. It is challenging to hold on when all seems lost.
But we have to drop our 4 anchors (Acts 27:29) and pray for daylight. Jesus is the Light of the world (John 8:12), therefore He is our daylight. He is our hope. He is our Strength. He is our unfailing love.

He endures forever. He remains forever. He is yesterday. Today. And tomorrow. A whole lot of tomorrows.

Praise God for these precious promises. Knowing my God is here, enduring gives me hope in His powerful unfailing love so I can keep going. And not give up.

How about you?

LORD, You are enduring in so many ways. In Your love, power, faithfulness, kindness, compassion, forgiveness. You will not fail. You are in my neighborhood, my neighbor and You are with me in the daily grind of life. You make my life joyful even when it’s hard. You give me a reason to shout, “Hallelujah! The LORD reigns.” AMEN
