A Proverb a day keeps Untruth away

Proverbs 1:1-6, ‘These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David’s son, Israel’s king—written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going; a manual for living, for learning what’s right and just and fair; to teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality. There’s something here also for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn—fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women.’ (MSG)

Prescription (RX) Fourteen: Your Caddy

Proverbs 14:10, ‘Don’t expect anyone else to fully understand both the bitterness and joys of all you experience in your life.’ (TPT)

What a profound Word of Wisdom today! In other words, don’t lay the burden of your expectations on someone else who was never meant to carry your load. We all have our own row to hoe, but so often, we concoct false realities we mistakenly make the responsibilities of those in our lives to provide.
I have been guilty of this, expecting my happiness and completeness to be fulfilled by someone I am close to. Do you know what happened? I was constantly disgruntled and felt let down and not valued. Then it happened to me; I became the one that was believed could change circumstances and compel results and never fail. I fell from that pedestal, and the landing was harsh, and I shattered another person’s world. Because I should have been capable and able; I should have executed everything; I should have produced every desired result.

But God did not create us to be someone else’s ‘ALL’. He created us for companionship and for relationship, but He never wanted us to bear the encumbrance of another’s hopes and dreams. Because, HE is our ALL. There is a God-sized, overwhelming, staggering hollow void in each one of us that is made only for the God of the Universe to fill and fulfill.
So if you are expecting your mate, partner, spouse, your friend, your confidante, to overflow your vessel with all things alive and hopeful, to offer that unconditional understanding, I regret to tell you, you will be disappointed over time. That person was sent to you for enjoyment and help and camaraderie, but he or she was never meant to carry your baggage for you, only with you. Jesus is meant for all things life-giving and life-sustaining, including overflowing your clay jar with perfect peace and forbearance.

I encourage you to do your own study of Proverbs as well as follow along with me! How it works: take a Proverb a day (there are 31, so perfect for the month of August) and read the chapter that corresponds with the day. Then stop on a verse that grips your attention. Focus on the verse(s) for the day as it is highly possible the Holy Spirit is speaking to you through what He helped you unearth. It’s almost like a Treasure Hunt! I will share with you this month Golden Nuggets the Holy Spirit leads me to, and I would love to have you share with me what He reveals to you in your mining excavation also!
