A Proverb a day keeps Untruth away
Proverbs 1:1-6, ‘These are the wise sayings of Solomon, David’s son, Israel’s king—written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it’s going; a manual for living, for learning what’s right and just and fair; to teach the inexperienced the ropes and give our young people a grasp on reality. There’s something here also for seasoned men and women, still a thing or two for the experienced to learn—fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate, the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women.’ (MSG)
Prescription (RX) Sixteen: Tour Guide
Proverbs 16: 1, 3, ‘Go ahead and make all the plans you want, but it’s the Lord Who will ultimately direct your steps. Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed.’ (TPT)
The knowledge of the world and the wisdom of the Lord are two vastly different things. The world’s understanding of success and fulfillment center around prestige and financial gain, status and possessions, whereas, in God’s economy, a person’s profitability is closely linked to his willingness to see himself and his endeavors and future through the lens of the Father.
There are many learning institutions in the world and numerous other teaching platforms but one of the most efficient and effective degrees can be obtained from the School of Hard Knocks. Often we qualify for this from navigating our own pathways and insisting on seeking directions from ourselves and not searching God’s guidance. Whether we walk with the Lord or apart from Him, and those are our only two choices in life by the way, we have a guide. Depending on who that guide is determines the road we follow. It is a guarantee that if you are walking in the Lord’s footsteps and if your feet fall on His path, you will reach the green pasture He promises and receive a rest that satisfies and provision that endures. It is a success and a journey which differs from the advice the world gives but it offers hope and peace, and the promises are everlasting.
I encourage you to do your own study of Proverbs as well as follow along with me! How it works: take a Proverb a day (there are 31, so perfect for the month of August) and read the chapter that corresponds with the day. Then stop on a verse that grips your attention. Focus on the verse(s) for the day as it is highly possible the Holy Spirit is speaking to you through what He helped you unearth. It’s almost like a Treasure Hunt! I will share with you this month Golden Nuggets the Holy Spirit leads me to, and I would love to have you share with me what He reveals to you in your mining excavation also!
