RED LETTERS

The One
Luke 15:4-7, ‘”There once was a shepherd with a hundred lambs, but one of his lambs wandered away and was lost. So the shepherd left the ninety-nine lambs out in the open field and searched in the wilderness for that one lost lamb. He didn’t stop until he finally found it. With exuberant joy, he raised it up, placed it on his shoulders, and carried it back with cheerful delight! Returning home, he called all his friends and neighbors together and said, ‘Let’s have a party! Come and celebrate with me the return of the lost lamb. It wandered away, but I found it and brought it home.’” Jesus continued, “In the same way, there will be a glorious celebration in heaven over the rescue of one lost sinner who repents, comes back home, and returns to the fold—more so than for all the righteous people who never strayed away.”’ (TPT)
I am the one.
And He searched for me. He sought me. He relentlessly pursued me. He patiently laid in wait for me while the rest of the world seductively danced inside of me. While the rest of life mesmerized me and called my name and beat against me til I gave in, He waited so patiently, so steadfastly. He whispered my name gently, so quietly, just enough so I knew He was near. I looked for relief in the bottom of bottles and love in so many wrong places. He scraped me off a piece of foil, rinsed me off with His grace, washed me in His mercy, dried me with His love. Then He set me on a high place, far above the chaos I had lived so that I knew the loftiness of His provision, the sacredness of His safety net. He placed a new heart inside of me, one that wept and felt and beat for Him, ‘broke for what broke His’. He filled me so full, I overflowed with all of Him spilling out of every crevice that I am, and on my lips, He wrote His song. I will never be the same and I will never forget all He has done for me. My feet will be only on His path and they will go where He leads, and I never want to wander from Him again.
I am blessed to be the one.
I’ve been reading RED LETTERS all my life, but never with my heart.
During the month of April, let’s JOURNEY where JESUS journeyed,
and listen with our hearts to all He came to proclaim.
