“The voice said unto me, “Son of man, eat what I am giving you- eat this scroll. Then go and give its message to the people of Israel.” Ezekiel 3:1. (New Living Translation)

The book of Ezekiel is one of the major prophet books of the Old Testament. Ezekiel is a book of prophecy based on the stubbornness of God’s people. Ezekiel was a priest-prophet that God commission to preach the judgement of Judah, the restoration of Judah and the greatness and sovereignty of God’s glory.

In verse 2 of chapter 3, we read how God is instructing Ezekiel to eat a scroll that contained lamentations, mourning and woe. This is most definitely a learning moment in this chapter. After he is instructed to eat the scroll, Ezekiel is instructed to then go to Israel and share the words that were on the scroll. Does this not say the same thing that we are taught in the New Testament about sharing the gospel with the world?

We know that when we consume something it becomes a part of us. Our body keeps what it needs and gets rid of the waste. We are also like that spiritually. We need to “eat” the manna that God has given us in His word so that we can grow spiritually. We are taught that Jesus is our bread of life. When we partake in that bread, we are filling our spiritual hunger. It is much more than that, when we are consuming the Word of God, we come the deliverer of that bread of life to others. We do this when we study our Bible. We gain increase from the Word of God and when we are sharing that word, we are sharing His manna.

LadyBug let us be sure to fill our spirit with manna from God that will not only satisfy our hunger, but also feed those who hunger for a newness in life.
