No dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. Philippians 3:13 (New Living Translation)
How often have we struggled with things from the past? We sit and ponder about choices that we made and try to imagine what life would be like if we had done something different. We always say, “if had known then what I know now, things would be different.” Oh, how true is that? One hundred percent of the time, they would be drastically different if we had made different choices. Our family may not be the same had we chosen a different path. Our job could be something totally different that what we are doing today. We could even be living in a different place. Friends would probably be different as well. Changing the choices that we made would definitely have us on a different path.
So rather than focus on those things of our past, Paul is advising us to focus on the things that are ahead in our life. He wants us to seek the Kingdom of God rather that regret the path that got us in the relationship that we are in with Jesus.
We can focus on making choices that will lead us in the direction of God’s will or we can choose to regret where we missed the mark. We can choose to follow the Holy Spirit, or we can stay focused on our mistakes. We will find that every time we choose to follow the Holy Spirit and focus on what is to come, we will always have peace, joy, and goodness.
LadyBug let us focus on the glorious and wonderful things to come and follow the Holy Spirit as we navigate this journey with Jesus.
In Love,
