Who has believed our message? To whom the Lord revealed his powerful arm? My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a dry root in the ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance nothing to attract us to him. He was despised and rejected – a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised and we did not care. Isaiah 53:1-3 (NLT)
After all the prophets had said regarding the coming of the Messiah, people still had unbelief in their hearts. As Isaiah went on to describe the servant, the reference is actually the prophecy of how Jesus will be accepted and rejected. This is where we read the prophetic words of how our Savior will be hated and loved.
He was expected to be extravagant and wearing all the finest linen, yet the Prince of Peace chose to dress as a servant. He was a simple man yet held the position of the highest King. Jesus knew the pain of rejection. He knew the sting of being abused and beaten. He understood what it was to be despised. Still, He carried it all with grace and humility. Those who loved Him scattered while those who hated Him watched His every move.
LadyBug, these are tough words! My heart hurts to think that I have been one who has scattered. But I have also been one who knows the grace of return. We have been given that grace because of the blood that Jesus shed on Calvary. We have been forgiven for scattering when we felt we had no hope.
Let us always know that we do not have to run when others hate Jesus. We can stand firm in our faith and know that we choose life and victory.
Much Love,
