As Paul writes to the church in Colosse, he makes sure to encourage his readers. In each of his letters, he always starts by giving thanks for those he is addressing. In Today’s Hope, we find Paul declaring prayers of wisdom over Epaphras and the church at Colosse. Most of the time, we read over the salutation and don’t really pay attention to what is being said. We fail to stop long enough to find the nugget in the passage of thanksgiving.
In this first section of Colossians 1, we read about Paul praying for those who follow Epaphras. He is praying a pray of growth in wisdom, knowledge, and spiritual understanding. He encourages them to walk in manner that is pleasing to God. He wants them to know the glorious power of God when they seek to follow Him. He wants to show them the gratitude he has for being partakers in the inheritance of God’s children. Paul was so thankful for the things that so many overlook when ministering to others.
LadyBug, when it comes to leadership, always look for those who will show their gratitude for you just because of the love of God. Seek leadership that will be grateful you are a part of the inheritance for God’s kingdom. When you find leadership that prays for you and is thankful for you just for who you are and not what you bring to the table, those are the leaders that will teach you to fill their shoes. They are those who will encourage you to follow the call of God on your life. They will help you discover the path that Jesus has for you in your journey.
Let us look for leaders who love with God’s heart and let us be leaders who encourage others to seek God’s heart.
