Imagine That!

Ephesians 3:20, ‘Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for His miraculous power constantly energizes you (TPT).’

A pastor I listen to made a statement in one of his sermons a while back. I wish I could find the sermon by Pastor Steven Furtick and I would quote him. I will instead have to paraphrase. He said something to this effect: a human’s mind is so intricate and complex, and out of its imaginations, come all creativity, ingenuity, inventions, which continue to increase the world’s potential, influence, knowledge, functionality, efficacy. So, is it any wonder, the mind is what Satan works intently at destroying in order to thwart what God intended man to be efficient at accomplishing? The imagination gives us unwieldy power as we each own the capability to create much in our minds.

What an amazingly sad but true concept as we now face drug addictions at an all-time high, and suicide rankings increase to among the top leading causes of death. Mental illness is not a silent topic anymore; in fact, we face a pandemic of different proportions that can no longer be silenced because mental instability and isolations shriek for attention and help.

But God born in us the ability to imagine and wonder. It was given to us by our Creator, and I am sure, it saddens Him greatly, that our enemy has taken liberty to control our imaginations and use them against us. That is not what the Lord God designed our minds to be used for nor what He wanted for His children. He even says in His Word that His love for us exceeds anything beyond our wildest imaginations, and because He knows what He put inside of us, then He alone knows the vastness and complexity of us.

While we are SpringCleaning, I was reminded we should take careful control of our imaginations. We have the potential of having it creatively purposed or deceptively schemed and it is our choice how we allow it to be used. Within its God-given artistry, you might have the ability to invent the next greatest platform to share Jesus worldwide or the cure for cancer or childhood leukemia. But if your enemy moves into that space where dreams are meant to be fed and fancied, he will want to rent out the rooms to harbor dark and frustrated thoughts that hurt and control you. Simply, to clean up your imagination, you can remind your enemy that the power in the blood of Jesus washed it clean and it has no room left for a dirty scoundrel like him. If you resist him, he will flee, because he likely knows more about Jesus than we do, and he trembles.

Come with me in March and let’s clean house!
If you are anything like me, you have kept some things around far too long
and now they got to go! And with the Lord’s help, they can!
