The Best Work is Done in Secret

By Donna L. Lewis

I felt lost, broken, and defeated. Nothing seemed to be working and all my efforts wasted.

In worship, tears streaming down my face, God opened a vision in my imagination. I saw a lion and me wrapped in a thick, hard, black cocoon. The lion began to lick the cocoon and as He did the hard shell cracked and fell away. Then, from the lion’s mane, hands stretched out and took hold of mine, drawing me from the cocoon. As I stepped out, the remains of the cocoon became like grave clothes falling to the ground. Before my eyes the lion transformed to a king, but not just any king, the King! Suddenly, I stood clothed in a beautiful, white dress as the Lord swept me up to Himself.

In that glorious moment my creator, the King of Kings, re-affirmed me as His priceless child. I belonged to Him. I knew it was time to walk away from the cocoon of defeat and step into His glory.

My friend, have you ever felt this way? Maybe this is your situation right now. If so, the King of Kings is here with an invitation. He desires to meet with you, just as He met with me. Are you ready? Will you allow Him to break your cocoon with His Word and draw you into a glorious, new beginning?

Consider the precious admonition from Paul the apostle, written in 2 Corinthians 3:18, “Now all of us, with our faces unveiled, reflect the glory of the Lord as if we are mirrors; and so we are being transformed, metamorphosed, into His same image from one radiance of glory to another, just as the Spirit of the Lord accomplishes it.” (The Voice Translation)

Think of it! A wonderous transformation awaits; a transformation of spirit, mind and purpose.

TRANSFORMED SPIRIT

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” New King James Version

When we make the decision to receive God’s grace and forgiveness through Christ Jesus we step out of death into supernatural life. We become literal royal citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. The old, futile life is over, along with defeat and disappointment. He grasps our hands and draws us into a beautiful, resilient life; His radiant bride clothed in white. We are now defined and empowered by His life in us.

Though we still face many sorrows, we always have hope. God has not left us forgotten, alone and defenseless. Far from it! Chew on these delicacies until they become personal to you.

He has crowned us with authority. We are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of God’s own possession. (I Peter 2:9)

He has given us His Word. The same Word that lit up earth day one of creation. (Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-4)

He has filled us with His Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit that descended on Jesus declaring, “this in My beloved Son in whom I’m well pleased.” (Matthew 3:16 & 17)

And finally, we have been gifted with the mind of Christ Jesus. (1 Corinthians 2:16)

TRANSFORMED MIND

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

Transformation takes place as we internalize the Word of God. His truth infusion creates brand new pathways for the mind. Science calls it neurogenesis and truly, it is a whole new world.

Now liberated from toxic belief systems, we are able to think clearly and envision a bright, hope-filled future. Confidence feels natural because God’s power operates freely through us. We know we are more than adequate for every task.

With that knowledge firmly planted, we begin to imagine ways to influence others “to love and good works.’ It becomes our passion, a holy obsession. (Hebrews 10: 24 & 25)

TRANSFORMED PURPOSE

“We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!” Ephesians 2:10 The Passion Translation

A transformed life is an intentional life. We are the Bride of Christ, resolute and royal. We know our authority. We know our position. We have access to the wisdom of God who created the universe and all it contains. When faced with uncertainty, we choose to answer with faith, feed on truth and be dominated by love.

We are here to serve others with the unique gifts and talents we are created with. As we serve, we motivate others to be vessels of His glory and ministers within His Kingdom.

Yes, Beloved, this is 2020. It is a time of grand transformation. We are His artistry. I want to assure you that He is watching over every detail of the canvas that is you.

Do not be alarmed if for the moment you feel hidden. As I cried out to Jesus, He reassured me with these sweet words, I pray they comfort you as they did me. He said, “I’m doing so much more than you realize. The best work is done in secret!”
