The Potter’s Wheel
The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, “Go down to the shop where clay pots and jars are made. I will speak to you while you are there.” So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so the potter squashed the jar into a lump of clay and started again.
Then the LORD gave me this message, “Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so you are in my hand. If I announce that a certain nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed, but that nation renounces its evil ways, I will not destroy it as I had planned. And if I announce that I will build up a nation or kingdom, making it strong and great, but then that nation turns to evil and refuses to obey me, I will not bless that nation as I had said I would.”
Jeremiah 18:1-10 NLT
Throughout the long march of history, leaders have risen and fallen, kings and kingdoms have risen and fallen, presidents have risen and fallen. Times like these it is easy to be discouraged, disillusioned, and feel defeated.
But understand this- the Potter’s hand has never left the clay.
He has been there in unseen realms, guiding it all.
His plans and purposes constantly taking shape and becoming reality.
“So why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?Put your hope in God for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.“
No one has ever fretted their way to victory, and you will not be the first.
Follow ALL his ways, put your hope in Him, and he will NOT disappoint. Our God is sovereign over all. The Alpha and the Omega. In this season, know that the winner has already been declared, and his name is Jesus.
HE has never left the throne, the only one who was, who is, and who will ever be.
The King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords.
