In the Old Testament in order to be atoned of our sins, we would have had to let the priest take them into the Holy of Holies on Atonement Day. Only the Priests were allowed to enter the Tabernacle. The Tabernacle itself was an amazing place. It was half the size of a football field, but it was movable. It was constructed with expensive materials such as silver, gold, bronze, precious wood, and rare cloth. It had the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies, both of which could not be entered by anyone other than a Priest.
The Holy of Holies was where the Ark of the Covenant and the Mercy Seat were found. Above the Mercy Seat was God’s presence. He had given the people the plan for the Tabernacle because He wanted to dwell among them. He wanted to be near them. However, after Jesus came and died on the cross, everything changed.
LadyBug, we no longer need a priest to take our prayers to the Mercy Seat. There is no longer a veil between us and the presence of God. That veil was ripped in half and destroyed as soon as Jesus died on the Cross. We now have access to God without the bells and ropes. He wants to dwell with us just as He did then.
Let us find ourselves in the presence of God every day.
