We Are All Gardeners

I’ve always been amazed and in child-like awe of those people who have a green thumb.  You know, those people who can grow just about anything.   We all know of someone who has beautiful indoor plants and together with their outdoor gardens are worthy of nothing less than the center spread in the next issue of Better Homes & Gardens Magazine.

It’s taken me a long time to understand and appreciate that we are all gardeners.  Perhaps not in the traditional sense, but more of the” heart” sense.   Just look around you, there is proof of this everywhere you look.  Have you ever wondered why some people can resist negativism and remain calm, optimistic, patient and even forgiving?  It’s almost like they are wearing an invisible hazmat suit!  Then what about the others, those that have a bad attitude, are negative, are pessimistic, have that previable black cloud hovering over them every day?

If we think of our heart as a garden where our thoughts are seed, some seed will become flowers while others will become weeds.  Could it be then that those who have intentionally and consistently sown seeds of goodness, of kindness are enjoying the harvest?  And what about those who are negative, filled with doubt and pessimism … yes, you would be too if your heart were a garden of thorns and weeds.

You may have heard the saying “you reap what you sow.”  In this season of Spring, may the seeds you sow bring an abundant harvest of love, light, and hope.
