the heart of Biblical Greats

2 Chronicles 20:13-18, ‘All the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little ones, stood there before the Lord. Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly. He said, “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Dessert of Jeruel. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’” Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem, fell down in worship before the Lord.’ (NIV)
the Posture of Faith
Time had aged King Jehoshaphat, traveling through the wrinkles on his face life had trekked there and deposited in the crevices. Decisions like maps traced a lifetime of battles—some victorious, some defeat—wars, nonetheless. He’d learned though, when the power was necessary, there was no other way to obtain it then going directly to the Source.
He had been tremendously touched, teetotaled, really, by the Spirit of God that hovered over the people, spreading Himself over and weaving Himself through the hearts until they were intertwined and connected. As a whole they fell to their face before the God Almighty and sought His face and instruction. And in obedience his people and he watched a Holy God miraculously come through and miraculously provide every detail for planning, every battleplan, and every provision for victory.
There never remained a puzzlement afterwards. When you meet a faithful God in a crisis and He gives His Word and comes through as He promised, you tend to trust that faithfulness for future requests. He showed up then; He always will, the King whispered in the wind.
2 Chronicles 20:21b, ‘”Give thanks to the Lord for His strength endures forever.”’
John 3:16-17, ‘”For here is the way God loved the world—He gave His only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in Him will never perish but experience everlasting life. God did not send His Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it!”’ (TPT)
